Gandhinagar, 19 October, 2011
Gujarat government spokesperson ministers Shri Jaynarayan Vyas and Saurabh Patel today announced compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the next of kin of two State Reserve Police Force group-12 Chetak commando jawans Vikramsinh Khatubha Parmar and Chimanbhai K Chaudhary.
The amount of compensation includes Rs 10,000 from welfare fund, Rs 1 lakh under Bandhutva sahay fund, Rs 15 lakh under group accident insurance scheme, pension to family of commando under Gujarat mulki seva pension rule and Rs 4-6 lakh as payment for the years left in their service.
Spokesperson ministers said that as soon as the Chief Minister received information about accident to a vehicle carrying his commandos, minister of state for Home and Rajkot range IG were instructed to reach the place of accident. Accordingly they reached there and stayed there to look after the hospitalization and treatment.
Spokesperson ministers said that death of jawans is an unfortunate incident, but the leader of opposition has showed crocodile tears without respecting death of jawans which is not human approach.
It should be mentioned that a police vehicle carrying Chetak commando faced accident when it was on its way to Dwarka for security arrangement during Gujarat Chief Minister’s Sadbhavana fast. While one jawan injured in this incident died very soon, the other one died after a day. Gujarat Chief Minister had not mentioned this incident anywhere during his two speeches in Sadbhavana fast function. The leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil had criticized this and had demanded Rs 5 lakh compensation and job to family person for jawans. A day after Gohil’s statement in press, Gujarat govt declared that the jawans are already suitable to get Rs 20 lakh compensation.
