Congress likely to adopt caste-based strategy in Rajkot West

Gujarat Congress is moving ahead in direction of caste-oriented strategy to win Rajkot-West assembly seat by-poll.
Some of the names in discussion before party’s announcement of candidate are UG Sanja, Jayantibhai Kalaria, Mansukh Kalaria and Krishna Park fame Haribhai.
If party decides to field Leuva Patel, Dinesh Chovatia’s name is on top.
If party decides to field Brahmin candidate, Hemang Vasavada and Pradip Trivedi are the choices. From Raghuvanshi community, Atul Rajani’s name is in discussion.
Looking at the majority number of Kadva Patel voters, Congress is most likely to field UG Sanja or any other Kadva Patel community candidate. In that case party’s strategy will be clearly on the basis of caste factor.
According to Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia, announcement on Congress candidate will be made in two days.
