Surat
A private agency on Tuesday gave demonstration of censor technology based automatic gates for Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) lanes in Surat. The idea is to prevent entry of vehicles other than BRTS buses on BRTS lanes. As each gate is likely to attract Rs 2-3 lakh cost, the Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) has taken a decision to put one gate at the most vulnerable Udhna-Satyanagar BRTS lane. In total there are 55 places where gates can be installed. Buses will have censor that shall open the gate which will be closed automatically in 20 seconds after buses cross the gate. In case of emergency vehicles like ambulance or fire brigade vehicles the gate could be opened using a key or a button. Such button can be set up in BRTS stand itself through wired connection.
