Babu Bajrangi takes back his bail plea

Ahmedabad

A convict of the 2002 Naroda Patiya case, Babu Bajrangi, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court, today took back his temporary bail application in Gujarat High Court after a medical report proved that his claims of illness were ‘false’.

The division bench of Justices S R Brahmabhatt and K J Thaker had asked the medical authorities in the civil hospital here to submit results of the medical tests conducted on the former Bajrang Dal activist before deciding his bail plea.
Bajrangi had claimed that he needed treatment for food poisoning and infection in blood. The medical report submitted before the court did not show any signs of infection following which the court expressed its desire to reject the bail plea. The counsel of Bajrangi withdrew the bail plea soon after.

Bajrangi with former Gujarat Minister Maya Kodnani, and 30 others, was convicted with life imprisonment in the case which involved killing of 97 people during Gujarat riots.
