Gandhinagar
In an apparent dig at the leader of the main opposition Congress in Gujarat assembly, Shankersinh Vaghela, ruling BJP’s state unit president Vijaybhai Rupani today said that the governments of various Congress ruled states should announce 20% reservation for the economically backward sections of the non-reserved castes.
Mr. Rupani said that by announcing 10% reservation for non reserved EB category, Gujarat has become the first state in the country to do so.
‘Now I request Congress to announce 20 % reservation for the non reserved EB categories in the states ruled by it,’ he said.
Notably soon after the announcement by ruling BJP, Mr. Vaghela terming it a ‘cheating’, sought at least 20 % reservation and increasing the annual income limit for the beneficiaries to Rs 12 lakh from 6 lakh.
