Rajkot
Since last August, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation(GSRTC) has suffered damages in its many buses due to Patidar quota agitation. One of the worst affected areas has been Morbi district near Rajkot. In response to specific inputs, GSRTC has terminated 6 night-halt ST bus services in rural Morbi. These were the services in which buses used to take halt in village during night. It has to be mentioned here that most of the buses during Patidar agitation were burnt during night halts in Patidar community populated villages.
These villages include Sarvad, Sajjanpar, Targhadi, Hirapur and Zikiyari.
Congress party that captured district panchayat of this district riding on Patidar agitation which was on its peak during the local election time has opposed GSRTC decision to cancel the services. District panchayat chairman has given 20 days ultimatum to GSRTC to resume the services.
In another development, section 144 has been imposed by additional collector of Morbi in entire Morbi district till 31st May in connection with Patidar agitation which has as of now negligible or no impact.
