Ahmedabad: Around 63 lakh subsidized LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs have been sold in one month under central government’s Ujala Scheme post its launch last month, Finance cum Energy minister of the state Saurabh Patel today said.
He also said that the price of the LED bulbs sold under the scheme has also been decreased by Rs 10.

The minister also said that the LED bulbs were being sold across the state at 615 DISCOM bill collection centers.
Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel had launched the Scheme in the state on May 26. Under the scheme, which has been launched in many other states, domestic consumers are being provided LED bulbs at a subsidized rate of Rs 80-85 per piece, while industries are sold at Rs 90 per piece. The bulbs with luminosity of 900 lumens (Around 8 watts) have 3-year replacement warranty.
As per government estimates nearly 12 crores LED bulbs will be distributed in the next one year across the state to about 1.21 crore consumers. Each household can get a maximum of 10 bulbs in the first phase. Consumers can purchase these bulbs by showing monthly electricity bill or prescribed ID cards.
