August 20, 2016
Rajkot:Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today suggested Rs 10 crore CCTV camera network, video wall and smart police station project in Rajkot. He said half of the expenditure will be contributed by government while local traders and business community need to take responsibility of rest of the half of total expenditure.
Rupani in his public felicitation function at Rajkot today responding to Police Commissioner’s chit passed on to him said, “recently in Morbi I inaugurated a smart police station. Industrialists in Morbi contributed Rs 5 crore fund to police through which Morbi Police has set up a CCTV network across the town with about 100 CCTV cameras. I was taken to a video wall over which all places of Morbi were visible. I think the solution for Rajkot against crime is in CCTV network and video wall involving 200-250 CCTV cameras. Serial stone killer was recently nabbed through CCTV camera footage. It was difficult to catch him but I congratulate police for nabbing him. The solution is smart police station. Rajkot has to go for it. The entire task can be completed in two months period. Total expenditure will be Rs 10 crore as per an estimate by Police Commissioner. The government will contribute half the amount. The rest of the amount has to be contributed by locals. Traders, organizations and others should hold a meeting with police soon and assure erection of CCTV network and smart police station in two months period.Security is fundamental element for development and these modern facilities are necessary to ensure security.”
Rupani said he was taken to a room in smart police station of Morbi and shown an accused whose thumb impression was taken and sent to Forensic data bank through technology. Entire criminal record of that accused arrived in twenty minutes or so.
In concluding portion of his speech, Rupani said locals should come forward and give him proposals about what to do for development of Rajkot. In response someone said: GDCR.Rupani in his response said all these issues will be resolved.
Rupani said Rajkot is capital of Saurashtra. He said he is from Rajkot and it is his duty to pay back to his place.
Rupani said he has got only one year as Chief Minister before the next elections. When Narendrabhai came to Gujarat as Chief Minister in 2001, he had one year before the next elections and he had said that he had to play one-day. Now I have a year and I say I have to play 20:20. Rupani said he trusts wisdom of Gujarat people who elect right government. They will elect BJP back in 2017 too.
