Fire breaks out at Adani Fortune House in Ahmedabad, controlled

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service has largely controlled fire at third floor of Fortune House building in Navrangpura on Navrangpura railway crossing-Mithakhali road today evening after over two hours effort. 11 vehicles of Fire brigade including hydraulic crane were deployed to control the fire. Traffic between railway crossing and Mithakhali was stopped. According to initial information arriving, fire broke out in server room. Due to small cubicals and partitions it was difficult for Fire Brigade to tackle the fire. People in the building had safely stepped outside the building. One person had moved to terrace atop the building in order to escape fire and smoke. Fortune building houses Reliance Fresh on the ground floor which was unaffected. The building also houses Adani Wilmair corporate office which was suffered major damage.

Ahmedabad: A fire today broke out in the Fortune House building near Navarangpura crossing here.

PI Navrangpura R B Desai and Chief Fire Officer M F Dastur said that the fire broke out on the second floor of the triple storied building which houses the office of Adani Wilmar Limited.

Reliance Super Mart is situated on the ground floor of the same building.

The reason behind the fire is not yet known however it seems that it started from the server room of the office on the second floor. The second floor has been badly affected in the fire however no loss of life or injury has been reported.

Around 100 people were in the building when the fire started but they all came out safely. Only one person who ran to the roof top in panic was later rescued by the fire fighters. Around 10 fire fighting vehicles controlled the fire in around 2 hours. The fire] fortunately could not spread to the ground and third floor of the building. The Reliance super mart has also been partially affected, the PI said.

The loss owing to fire is being estimated. Its reason is also being ascertained.
