Rs 6551 crore annual budget of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation announced

Over 200 ft tall flagpole for Indian tricolor is one of the announced items in budget

 

Ahmedabad: Standing Committee Chairman of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) Shri Pravin Patel today presented Rs 6,551 crore final AMC budget for year 2017-18 today.

The AMC has proposed to construct 6 new over/under bridges in its ‘Smart Ahemdabad, Livable Ahmedabad and Loveble Ahemdabad’ budget.

New flyover will come up at Rajendra park(Odhav), Cadila bridge, Ambika mill areas while Chandlodia railway crossing and Sola bridge will get under passes. Feasibility report will be prepared for Naranpura Pallav Char Rasta flyover.

Shivranjani, CTM, Bapunagar, Gota and ITI flyovers will be decorated.

Formation of Mayor Premier League, sports festival for divyangs, scholarship for children of municipal employees in certain courses of higher education, GIS mapping of one lakh streetlights, heritage center to take care of old buildings, automated parking system, 60 km wall-to-wall roads, animal hostel for stray cattle, Dindayal seva vasti(slums) clinics, 5 stores for generic medicine, shifting of Nikol mega pipeline outside the city, celebration marking ten years of Kankaria lake front, hike of Rs 5 lakh in annual budget of Councillor(now Rs 22 lakh), traffic advisory committee, traffic circle development, CCTV camera, Vande mataram square project where over 200 ft tall flagpole will have Indian national flag, senior citizen traffic council in order to take services of senior citizens in traffic management, solar roof tops, Rs 50 lakh party plot in Vejalpur, widening of Khokhra over bridge, Rs 3 crore community hall in Gota, Rs 1 crore party plot at Gulabi Tekra garden which has been encroached by slum dwellers etc are some of the highlighting points of AMC budget.

 

There has been no hike in property tax in this budget which proposes to spend Rs 3310 crore on development works.
