E-wallet based digital payment for tickets launched in GSRTC buses (ST buses)

Ahmedabad: Aligned with the central government’s objective to promote cashless transactions, Gujarat’s Minister of Transport Vallabhbhai Kakadiya today launched the e-wallet based ticket payment in Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), owned buses (ST buses)
GSRTC has partnered with Indian mobile wallet major, MobiKwik to introduce digital ticket payment across its fleet of 8000 passenger buses. The tie-up will enable commuters to book tickets by scanning a QR code within seconds without standing in queues.
On the occasion Kakadiya said, ‘India is changing and digital is the new way to pay. GSRTC is among the first few transport departments in India to adopt to this change and I congratulate the management on this development. MobiKwik powered payments will help commuters across Gujarat in paying securely in one step through their mobile phones and matching steps with the new age India.”
Commuters can pay seamlessly and securely across GSRTC buses by scanning the QR code in their MobiKwik application. MobiKwik is also training the entire staff of GSRTC to ensure a convenient digital payment experience.

The launch event took place at Geeta Mandir bus stand and was attended by who’s who from the tourism department of Gujarat and GSRTC. On the occasion Kakadiya, also made the first cashless transaction at GSRTC using MobiKwik application.
