Changed wind pattern lowers temperatures, non-seasonal heat-wave warning lifted

Ahmedabad: Gujarat today felt somewhat relieved with fall in temperatures and the met department lifted heat-wave warning which was haunting the state with its untimely advent for past few days.

Maximum temperatures fell up to 4 degrees and the number of places showing 40 °C or above temperature came down to six from 13 of the past two days.

The place with highest temperature was Kandala airport which recorded a somewhat moderate 41.1°C. Other five places with 40 °C or above mark were Amreli, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Surendranagar and Bhuj.

The vanishing of non-seasonal heat-wave has been attributed to the change in wind pattern. The northernly to west northernly wind which was bringing dry heat from Rajasthan has changed to westerly giving respite from dry heat.

Ahmedabad today registered a maximum of 39.8 ° C, which was moderate as compared to the days before but was yet 2.2 °C above normal.

The met center here in its bulletin has not issued any heat-wave warning for tomorrow or the four days after that.

The first such nonseasonal warning was issued on March 18 for coastal Saurashtra while in Gujarat region the mercury touched 40 mark in Surendranagar last week after which heat-wave was being witnessed at many places.

The maximum and minimum temperatures today was as following-
