Congress high command was only concerned about Rajya Sabha win: Smriti Irani

Palanpur:

Two of the BJP candidates for August 8 Rajyasabha polls in Gujarat union minister Smriti Irani and Balwantsinh Rajput, who were visiting flood hit North Gujarat, today attacked opposition Congress for absence of its over half a dozen local MLA’s from the area including six alone of the worst-hit Banaskantha district.

Irani, known for her strong statements told newsmen that the sole concern of the Congress High Command was to see how its only candidate Ahmed Patel (Political Advisor to Sonia Gandhi) win the election.

‘The worry of the Congress high command was how Patel sails through and nothing else. That was why its MLA’s were in Bengaluru resort while their voters back-home were suffering,’ Irani said.

Rajput, who was declared BJP candidate soon after his resignation as Congress MLA and joining the party last week, said,’ I am moving around in the flood affected areas and people were asking where are your former friends (Congress MLA’s).’

‘What can I say, I just say they were doing Jalsa (enjoying),’ Rajput, the former MLA from Siddhapur seat in Patan district and also ex-whip Congress said.

Over 40 Congress MLA’s have been kept in a resort in Bengaluru to foil the alleged horse-trading by ruling BJP and will be brought on the day of voting day of Rajyasabha polls in which BJP president Amit Shah is also a candidate.
