August 26, 2017
Ahmedabad:
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has expelled its Gujarat unit spokesperson Manhar Patel and several others from the party for their alleged involvement in anti party activities.
NCP Gujarat president Jayant Patel ‘Boskey’ today said that apart from Manhar Patel, B J Gadhvi, Tarun Gadhvi, Jivan Kabriya, Takhtsinh Solanki, D C Solanki, Ashish Patel, Lalit Patodaia and some others have been removed from their posts and the primary membership of the party. They were involved in anti party activities and were trying to malign the image of party general secretary Praful Patel. These people, several of whom had come to party fold from other parties, had privately convened press meet and expressed views contrary to the official party stand on various issues.
Despite clarification from the top leadership about the incident of cross voting during the August 8 Rajyasabha election in Gujarat, Patel was issuing unnecessary statements contrary to party views.
He said that the disciplinary committee of the party has decided to remove him and others from his post and primary membership of the party from immediate effect to stop any further damage to the organization.
To a query, Boskey claimed that the formation of most of the dissolved district units and other units of the party in Gujarat would be completed by Monday.
He also said that Kandhal Jadeja, second of the 2 Gujarat MLAs of the party apart from him, who has been served notice for cross voting in Rajyasabha election defying whip, was still very much with the party.
