Hardik Patel, aides booked for physical assault, dacoity, loot, arrested by police

Update: Hardik Patel has been arrested by Ahmedabad police while Dinesh Bambhania has been arrested by Rajkot police in this case. They shall be handed over to Patan police and will be produced in court later. Police may seek remand of them and other accused in this case.

Patan: Patidar Anamat Aandolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel and 10 of his supporters including his close aide Dinesh Bambhaniya have been booked under various charges including that of dacoity and loot on a complaint lodged by an aide of his own outfit (PAAS).

PAAS convener of Mahesana, Narendra Patel has lodged the complaint in B-division police station of Patan.

PI of B-division J B Pandit today said that Narendra has in his complaint alleged that in the evening of August 26 his friend from Rajkot Dilip Savaliya was looted and beaten up by Hardik and his supporters near Hotel Navjivan close to Siddhpur chowk. In presence of Hardik, one of his supporters snatched Dilip’s chain and broke his mobile phone.

We have booked Hardik, Dinesh Bambhaniya, Mahesh Patel, Sunil Patel, Brijesh Patel and Dhaval as named accused and 3 to four others unknown (whom the complainant does not know by name but can identify on seeing) under section 395 (Dacoity), 424 (Dishonest or fraudulent removal or concealment of property)
504 ( Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Narendra Patel said that he was pained to see that such an incident took place in presence of Hardik, whom we thought of as our leader.

‘All of them called us names and threatened too and I was compelled to file the complaint,’ Patel who was a prominent figure of the Hardik led quota stir of PAAS two years ago said.
