Each village of Gujarat to have own Talati cum Mantri: Nitin Patel

Gandhinagar: Each village in the State will get its own Talati cum Mantri, said Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel today.

He said each village will get its own Talati cum Mantri who will do duty related to gram panchayat as well as revenue affairs. This will offer various services available at gram panchayat level. At present two separate employees handle the tasks of Panchayat and Revenue but with this decision both services will be available from one person.

He said there are total 11,810 positions of Talati approved in Panchayat department. Out of 4,199 Talatis that come under Revenue department, only 650 who are Kasba Talati(urban area Talati) will be continued in Revenue department while others will be shifted to Panchayat department on deputation. Terms of their job will not change. There are 14,265 gram panchayats. Each of that should have own Talati in ideal situation.

Patel said the government has also decided to upgrade the post of circle inspector as extension officer. This will avail pay rise to them.
