Gujarat Congress suspends entry of Chandpa in party
September 02, 2017
Ahmedabad: Congress has suspended the entry of controversial former woman leader of AAP Sangeeta Chandpa in the party.
A brief statement by party general secretary Nisith Vyas today said that the party high command has decided to suspend the entry of Chandpa in the party with immediate effect.
Meanwhile it is understood that the party was compelled to take the decision owing to strong protest from various outfits of Brahm Samaj (Brahmin Community) in the state.
Chandpa had made objectionable and indecent comments on Brahmin community after the Una dalit flogging incident last year. Later AAP had to apologise for it.
Shri Samast Gujarat Brahm Samaj, an outfit of Brahmin community in Gujarat, had yesterday condemned the inclusion of Chandpa in Congress and warned that this wrong and deliberate step of Gujarat president of the party Bharatsinh Solanki would cost dearly to the party.
Notably, another outfit of Brahmin community in the state, BPS had attacked the AAP party Gujarat head office in Navrangpura area here in August last year to protest against Chandpa’s uttering after the Una dalit flogging incident. BPS had then claimed that the incident was to oppose Chandpa’s abusive and objectionable language against Brahmin community despite the fact that those who beat Dalits were not Brahmins.
