3 police personnel including PI surrender in Surat RTO scam matter

Surat: Three police personnel including a PI rank officer, who were absconding in a sensational RTO scam case, today surrendered here.

The then PI of Sarthana police station of Surat city N D Chaudhary and two of his constables surrendered today. Chaudhary had applied for anticipatory bail in the Supreme Court which has rejected it prompting him to surrender.

Notably, one Irshad Pathan who ran an auto garage in Kamrej area here was involved in a scam of providing old and scrapped buses registration numbers to new buses causing substantial tax loss the the RTO department. It had come to the knowledge of Chaudhary and 300 such RC books were also recovered from him but he instead of bringing it to fore allegedly sought bribe of Rs one crore from him and took Rs 30.50 lakhs from him too.
