AMC approves merger of Bopal, Ghuma, other areas to Amdavad city; sends proposal to State govt for clearance

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved a proposal to include more areas in city’s limit. The proposal has been now sent to the State government for clearance.
Standing Committee Chairman Amul Bhatt said,’there are areas that are already dependent on AMC and AUDA for water, gutter, light etc facilities. In order to further strengthen the service, the AMC has proposed legal and authentic merger. Final decision will be taken as per clearance received by the State government. Proposed areas to be merged to AMC limit include municipality areas of Bopal and Ghuma and village panchayat areas of Zundal, Koteshwar, Bhat, Chiloda, Naroda City, Kathwada and Amiyapur.’
The Standing Committee meeting has approved a proposal. If given clearance by the State government, the total area under AMC will increase from 464 square km at present to 500 square km.
