One out of five green districts in Gujarat may lose green status to orange

Jamnagar: Devbhumi Dwarka district of Gujarat may lose green category status as two cases have been detected in district’s Bet Dwarka area. It is learnt that two persons (40 year old male Karim and 28 year old woman Farzana) detected positive had returned from Ajmer in Rajasthan to Bet Dwarka on April 30.

Bet Dwarka is an island surrounded by Arabian sea on all sides. The island has presence of 8200 inhabitants as part of 1640 families.

The district collector has declared entire Bet Dwarka island as containment zone and asked all the people there under home quarantine. Containment area’s limits have been sealed and only one route has been kept opened for delivery of supplies. Thermal screening, police deployment etc actions have also been ordered by district collector.

Devbhumi Dwarka district had until now not witnessed even a single Covid19 case. The district was declared green zone by the Centre early this week.

However due to detection of Covid19 cases, the district is in all likelihood going to turn into Orange zone.

With Devbhumi Dwarka set to turn into orange zone, only four districts Morbi, Junagadh, Porbandar and Amreli will remain green districts so far as not a single case of Covid19 is detected there.
