Gujarat Congress slams State govt over unavailability of sufficient vaccine doses

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Congress today attacked the BJP government in the State over shortage of covid vaccine doses being felt in last one week period. State party chief Amit Chavda addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Paldi today alleged that the city of Ahmedabad has been receiving only 10,000 doses against demand of 1 lakh doses. He further alleged that Gujarat is now on 7th rank among all States of the country in vaccination number due to this. He said the State government should vaccinate those eligible before the third wave which is likely to come in the month of September this year.

It’s worth noting that ever since the Chief Minister made announcement that covid vaccination for all those working in commercial units will be compulsory before the prescribed date, there’s extra ordinary rush at vaccination centres. However the total number of daily doses administered is falling dur to unavailability of matching number of doses. In all certainty the State government is going to extend the prescribed time limit for getting compulsorily vaccinated. As the government has also allowed walk-in and on the spot registration at vaccination centres, many people complain they visit the vaccination center but return home without getting jabbed due to lack of vaccine doses.
