Ukai gains from heavy rains in Maharashtra; Over 1.37 lakh cu sec inflow, level rising
July 24, 2021
Surat: Ukai dam, the main source of water in South Gujarat has received significant volume of water due to heavy to very heavy rains in neighboring Maharashtra state. At 1 am on July 23, the level of water in Ukai dam was 95.89 m, way below rule level of 101.50 m set for upto 1st of August. The inflow also was merely 10,704 cu sec. However today at 2 pm the level in Ukai is up at 96.61 m and it is likely to rise continuously as present inflow is as high as 1,37,077 cu sec. Percentage of storage of water which was 41.92 per cent at 1 am on July 23 is now up at 45.42 per cent. As the present level of water is still way below rule level, there’s ample scope to store more water upto the level of 101.50 m till 1st August and therefore outflow is negligible at present at 6008(river bed) and 600(canal). Full reservoir level in Ukai is 105.16 m. DeshGujarat
