Surat: Thanks to consistant efforts of Gujarat Police jointly with Odisha Police’s Crime Branch Special Task Force,  properties of Ganja supply kingpin Pandis worth crores from Ganjam district in Odisha are seized.

Sunil Pandi, one of the three Pandis involved in ganja (hemp stalks – canabis) trafficking and network, is in Sabarmati Central jail in Ahmedabad. Anil Kumar Pandi, his brother is main supplier of ganja from Ganjam. Anil Pandi is one of the most wanted drug traffickers in many cases in Gujarat and Odisha. He is absconding. The court has issued a non-bailable warrant against him. In December last year, the STF – Odisha had announced a reward for information leading to Pandi.

Police has got this success in seizing the property of accused in NDPS ( Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances)  Act under section 66. The NDPS Act provides for the confiscation of illegally acquired assets (assets acquired illegally from the drug trade in the last six years).

The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch of Odisha had appointed competent authorities under the NDPS Act, 1985 to seize the illicit assets of wanted drug mafia Anil Pandey worth Rs 2 crore. On April 9, STF announced that competent authority of Kolkata ( under NDPS act) has approved the STF proposal for forfeiture of ill-gotten properties of inter-state drug trafficker of kodala. This drug trafficker is involved in at least 12 narcotics cases in Gujarat and Odisha.

Regular ganja supply from Odisha takes place via rail and other modes. Many times ganja parcels are thrown from the train at remote places. Such consignments are picked up by carrier standing nearby.

Two cases of NDPS against Anil Pandi are filed in Ahmedabad DCB police station, 1 in Kotada Sanghani police station in Rajkot district and one in Bilkha police station in Junagadh.
