Ahmedabad Metro train trial run conducted through underground tunnel

Sabarmati: Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited conducted a trial run of a metro train through the 6.5-km long Kankaria underground tunnel from Apparel park in Vastral to Old High Court area via Shahpur and a river bridge over Sabarmati.
A metro train with 3 coaches was deployed in the trail run. Further testing from Old High Court to Thaltej station will also be carried out.
GMRC aims to start both corridors of metro train in the city by August 2022. The work of phase-1 of project is about to complete. It is planned that the 40-km long metro train route of East-West and North-South corridors will be made operational by August 2022.
The metro will run underground for 6.5-km distance in the wall city area of Ahmedabad from Shahpur Darwaja to Kankaria east via 4 stations namely Shahpur – Gheekanta – Kalupur – Kankaria. DeshGujarat
