Gandhinagar: While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s partying video in Kathmandu allegedly with Chinese ambassador to Nepal has gone viral today, it is interesting to note that Rahul was invited to start Gujarat election campaign on 1st may from Dahod but the party had to postpone the function due to non-availability of Rahul Gandhi. This very much indicates lot of things about Rahul Gandhi, his approach to politics and how seriously he takes Gujarat elections.

Meanwhile senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has in a reply to a question said: ‘Shri Rahul Gandhi ji has gone to friendly country Nepal in a private marriage function of a friend. Till now in this country, participating in a wedding function was not crime but it may be crime from tomorrow.’

It is widely known that Gujarat Congress had to postpone its Dahod function on 1st May as it did not receive any confirmation regarding party leader Rahul Gandhi’s presence in the programme. Gujarat Congress was going to hold Adivasi Adhikar Satyagrah rally in Dahod district on 1st May. The State unit of the party had invited party’s top leader Rahul Gandhi to attend and address this gathering. State party incharge Raghu Sharma had held number of meetings also for preparations of this programme. However as party reportedly didn’t receive confirmation regarding Rahul Gandhi’s presence the 1st May gathering was postponed. After a few days, the new date was fixed as 10th of May.

It’s worth noting that Rahul had earlier also not attended the launch of ‘Azadi Gaurav Yatra’ from Sabarmati Ashram on April 6. State party leaders had informed the media persons about Rahul Gandhi’s presence at the launch of this yatra at Sabarmati Ashram. However later Rahul’s visit was cancelled.

Last year, Gujarat Congress had decided to hold a Chintan Shibir in presence of Rahul Gandhi in the month of November. However Chintan Shibir was time and again postponed due to lack of availability of Rahul Gandhi who was on foreign tour then. Finally, Chintan Shibir could take place in the last week of February this year in presence of Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi is currently in Kathmandu, Nepal, as per local media reports. He is in Nepal to attend wedding function of his friend Sumnima Udas, a former CNN correspondent. Her father, Bhum Udas served as Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar.

As per reports, Sumnima Udas is getting married to Nima Martin Sherpa and a formal reception will be held on 5th May at Hyatt Regency hotel in Bauddha. Rahul Gandhi along with his friends is staying at Kathmandu Marriott hotel.
