Controversy erupts over AMC land transfer move
July 26, 2023
Ahmedabad: The transfer of municipal land in the Bodakdev area to a charitable trust has sparked controversy. The plot was offered at a highly subsidized rate to the Shanti Seva Charitable Trust, and it is alleged that one of the trustees of this charitable trust is the son of Hitesh Barot, the chairman of the standing committee, according to a senior AMC official.
The transfer process commenced with the approval of the AMC standing committee and the general body, followed by the assent of the AMC commissioner. This transfer process involves two stages: the initiation of the process by the standing committee and general board, and the subsequent submission of paperwork and consent to the state government for final approval. The current status of the process is in its second stage. The plot, measuring 586 sq m, was offered at a much lower price than its market value. The plot originally belonged to the Bodakdev gram panchayat before it was merged with the AMC in 2006. DeshGujarat
