Ahmedabad: The crime branch today apprehended a Ugandan woman and two local men for being in possession of 50.75 grams of cocaine worth Rs 4.06 lakh. According to initial investigations, the woman had travelled from Mumbai to Ahmedabad to deliver the contraband to the two men.

The arrested individuals are Ugandan national Kelly James Richel (26) and local residents 34-year-old Shalin Shah (living in Ambawadi) and 41-year-old Aditya Patel (living in Thaltej). The trio was nabbed while sitting in Patel’s car in the Ambawadi area, where they were reportedly preparing to carry out the drug delivery.

The police confiscated 50.75 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 4.06 lakh from the suspects. Investigations have unveiled that Shah and Patel had been organizing ‘cocaine parties’ in the city for the past four years, selling small quantities of the drug to invited guests on a monthly basis.

It has been revealed that Patel established contact with Sylvester, a Ugandan drug dealer, around four years ago. Through his intermediary, Richel, Sylvester supplied the contraband to Patel. For each such transaction, Richel received a commission of Rs 10,000.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the three individuals under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. DeshGujarat
