September 07, 2023
Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will install a floating island in Gotri pond in the city to attract birds.
In our ancient tradition, the ponds would have a central island called ‘Bakasthal’ meaning the place for birds. Any pond that has Bakasthal would attact plenty of birds.
A general board meeting of VMC discussed a proposal of installing a floating island made of Bamboos in Gotri lake to attract birds.
The floating island is made by a voluntary organization through its own funding. The organization will also look after the maintenance of the floating Iceland. The island will be installed in Gotri lake to attract the birds and provide accommodation to them.
The proposal was made in the general board after the standing committee granted approval to it. The renovation of 27 lakes has been completed in Vadodara so far.
