Surat Police arrests one in kidnap and murder case of 12-year-old boy

Surat: A day after police found the dead body of a 12-year-old boy who was kidnapped and killed for a ransom demand of Rs 15 lakh, the police has arrested one of the perpetrators, Umang, near Amroli on Monday. However, the accused, named Sonu Yadav, Monu Yadav, Mohan Kushwah, Sumeet Mohante, and Jeetu Jaina, are still evading capture.

Umang confessed to the police that they had abducted the boy with the intention of demanding a ransom, but they decided to take his life out of fear that he might recognize them, as he was acquainted with some of them.

Hitesh Joysar, SP Surat, informed that the scheme was planned by the brothers Sonu and Monu Yadav, both of them have a criminal history, including a murder case for which they were out on bail. They enticed the child into an auto by promising to take him home by using his trust in them. The authorities are actively pursuing the remaining suspects.

The victim, a class 5 student named Amrendra, also known as Shivam, resided with his parents in Shivam Satyam society, Kadodara. On September 8, while returning from his tuition in Krishnanagar, the accused forcibly took him. They later demanded a ransom from Sudhirkumar (father of the boy), a native of Bihar. In desperation, Sudhirkumar alerted the police. Despite their efforts, the boy’s lifeless body was found near Ubhed village on Sunday.

After the arrest was made, the victim’s family and the local community staged a protest outside Kadodara police station. Women sat in protest on the road, voicing their concerns that the area is plagued by criminals and that the police have not taken adequate action. DeshGujarat
