Police seize packets of Charas off Dabhari Coast in Surat

Surat: The police have seized 9.040 kilograms of Charas packed in packets with Urdu writings on them from the Dabhari coast in Olpad, Surat.

The packets were found inside a sack located approximately 1 kilometer north of the Khodiyar Mata mandir at the Dabhari coast. These packets were subsequently sent to the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory), where it was confirmed that they contained Charas. The police have confiscated Charas with a total weight of 9.040 kilograms, estimated to be worth around Rs 13.56 lakh. The Olpad police have filed a case against unidentified suspects under the NDPS Act.

The police have informed the press that strict patrolling has been initiated in the coastal areas of Olpad due to suspicions that drug traffickers have resorted to delivering drugs via the coasts, given the difficulties in transporting them by road and train. Experts proficient in the Urdu language were consulted regarding the Urdu writings on the packets.

Similar drug seizures were recently reported from the Suvali coast and Abdasa-Sunthri coast in Kutch. DeshGujarat
