September 16, 2023
Gandhinagar: The Children’s University (Amendment) Act, 2023, was unanimously passed in the Gujarat Assembly on Friday, changing the name of the Children’s University in Gandhinagar to the Children’s Research University.
Minister of State for Education, Praful Pansheriya, said that it was necessary to alter the university’s name to Children’s Research University in order to fulfill its core objective and enhance its research endeavors.
The Children’s University, originally founded by then-Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2009, ceased its academic operations and transitioned into a research institute. Starting with the academic session of 2023–24, the university, employing approximately 45 teaching staff and 70 non-teaching personnel, stopped enrolling new students.
Currently, there are over 150 students enrolled, with nearly 50 percent of them expected to graduate next year. DeshGujarat
