Dwarka: The mega demolition drive being carried out in Bet Dwarka and Okha entered its third day today, with authorities reclaiming around 36,400 square meters of government land, valued at over ₹15 crore. As part of the campaign, the administration demolished the illegally constructed Hazrat Panj Pir Dargah on Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) land in Okha. A heavy police presence was deployed to maintain law and order during the operation. Officials stated that all illegal encroachments are being removed without discrimination under this campaign.
In the Balapar area of Bet Dwarka, notices were issued to 450 individuals for encroachments. Of these, 111 structures have been demolished, and encroachments on Revenue Survey No. 108 were also cleared.
During the ongoing demolition drive, which began on Saturday in Dwarka Panthak, approximately 200 illegally constructed houses in Bet Dwarka, Devbhoomi Dwarka, have been demolished, reclaiming 24,000 square meters of government land by Sunday. This morning, the illegally built dargah in Okha was also demolished, and another similar structure is likely to face demolition soon.
The operation was conducted in the presence of the Deputy Collector and the District Superintendent of Police, under the guidance of one SP and three DySPs. Around 1,000 police and SRP personnel were deployed to ensure the operation proceeded smoothly, with security arrangements still in place.
To maintain order, the movement of pilgrims and visitors has been largely restricted, with the area effectively cordoned off. Additionally, police teams conducted vehicle and foot patrols throughout the region to deter potential disruptions and enforce the rule of law. DeshGujarat
