RTO operations resume across Gujarat as technical officers end strike
February 11, 2025
Ahmedabad: Operations at the Road Transport Office (RTO) across Gujarat resumed this afternoon after the ongoing strike by around 700 technical officers, including inspectors and sub-inspectors, was called off following the government’s assurance of resolving their long-pending demands.
Work at RTOs across the state was disrupted on Monday as the Gujarat Motor Vehicles Department Technical Officers’ Association called for a strike, demanding the resolution of issues such as transfers and promotions. As part of the protest, technical officers observed a ‘No Login Day’ on Monday, halting major services at RTOs, including driving license tests and new vehicle registration approvals. The department operated with a limited staff, attempting to provide minimal services, but most applicants with prior appointments were left frustrated as their work remained incomplete.
Today, around 700 technical officers across the state had planned to go on mass casual leave. However, the plan was called off following the government’s positive response and commitment to addressing their demands. As a result, all officers resumed duty, allowing applicants affected by the strike to proceed with their scheduled appointments after 12 noon. DeshGujarat
