ACB Gujarat gets new director
February 13, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Home Department of the Gujarat Government appointed Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Piyush Patel as the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Wednesday.
A 1998-batch IPS officer, Patel was awaiting posting after returning from central deputation. His appointment fills the vacancy left after IPS officer Shamsher Singh was deputed to the central government in January. The state home department issued an official notification instructing Patel to assume charge immediately.
It is noteworthy that the ACB director position, which was originally in the Director General of Police (DGP) grade, has been downgraded to an ex-cadre post in the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) grade.
Born on November 28, 1971, Patel is from Ahmedabad and holds an engineering degree in electronics and communication. Throughout his career, he has held key positions, including Inspector General (IG) of the Surat Range and the Gandhinagar Armed Unit. Patel first went on central deputation in 2013, serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) with the BSF before being promoted to ADGP. DeshGujarat
