October 10, 2025
Ahmedabad: A traffic police constable was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹1,000 at Aslali Circle by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday. The accused, Kishorbhai Kantibhai Makwana, serving as a Class-3 police constable at the Traffic Police Station in Ahmedabad, was trapped by ACB after demanding illegal gratification from a transporter.
According to the ACB, the complainant runs a transport business and operates multiple vehicles to move goods within Ahmedabad city. On October 3, 2025, the driver of one of his vehicles informed him that the vehicle had been stopped at Aslali Ring Road Circle by traffic police for not wearing a seat belt. The accused allegedly threatened to issue a fine of ₹3,000 but later demanded a bribe to release the vehicle.
After repeated phone calls and veiled threats of harassment, the complainant met the accused at Aslali Circle. During the meeting, the constable demanded ₹1,000, which the complainant paid. Later, the accused also demanded an additional amount as a “Diwali bonus.”
Unwilling to pay further, the complainant approached the ACB. A trap was then laid, during which the constable accepted ₹1,000 in bribe towards the so-called Diwali bonus. He was immediately caught red-handed by the ACB team.
The entire bribe amount of ₹1,000 was recovered from the accused. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
