Benefit of New Expressways: GSRTC Cuts Bus Fares on New Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar and Surat Routes
May 18, 2026
Ahmedabad: In a relief for passengers, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has reduced bus fares on select routes operating through newly developed expressway corridors, making intercity travel more affordable.
The recently opened Vadodara–Surat–Navsari corridor, part of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, offers faster connectivity between Ahmedabad and Navsari. Similarly, the newly developed Ahmedabad–Dholera Express Highway provides improved connectivity between Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar.
Announcing route changes for its premium AC bus services between Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar, GSRTC said all such buses will now operate via the Ahmedabad–Dholera Express Highway.
Under the revised arrangement, premium AC buses on the Ahmedabad–Bhavnagar route, along with services operating on the Gandhinagar–Diu and Gandhinagar–Mahuva routes, will use the new expressway. According to GSRTC, a total of 24 daily trips running between 5 am and 6 pm will be shifted to the new route.
Under the revised fare structure, passengers travelling on the Ahmedabad–Bhavnagar route via the Dholera Expressway will now pay Rs 337 instead of Rs 351 earlier, a reduction of Rs 14.
In a separate move, GSRTC has also launched a new non-stop Volvo service on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. The service will depart from Nehrunagar in Ahmedabad at 6:45 am for Surat, while the return bus from Surat to Nehrunagar will leave at 1 pm.
The fare for the Nehrunagar–Surat route has been fixed at Rs 687, allowing passengers to save around Rs 61 compared to previous fares.
The fare revision comes as part of efforts to encourage greater use of public transport amid rising travel costs. The move is expected to provide relief to regular commuters on key intercity routes.
According to GSRTC, the revised pricing has been made possible due to improved highway connectivity and the introduction of express routes, which are expected to improve travel efficiency while lowering operational costs. DeshGujarat
