Surendranagar: The local police have booked an alleged burglary gang under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organized Crime (GujCTOC) Act for allegedly carrying out organized property offences across the region, officials said on Friday.
The case has been registered at the Surendranagar City A Division police station. Three accused Jayanti Sarvaiya, Shakti alias Lalo Tharesha, and Bholo Sarvaiya have been arrested so far, while two other alleged members of the gang, Rakesh Sarvaiya and Rahul Sarvaiya, remain absconding. Police teams have launched efforts to trace and apprehend them.
According to district police, the investigation revealed that the group was allegedly involved in systematically executing burglaries and other property-related crimes across various parts of Surendranagar district.
Considering the organized pattern of the offences and the criminal backgrounds of the accused, police invoked the GujCTOC Act against the gang.
Police records show that Jayanti Sarvaiya has four cases registered against him in Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, and Botad districts, including burglary and offences under the Arms Act. Shakti alias Lalo Tharesha also has four cases registered in Surendranagar district linked to burglary and Arms Act violations.
