Vadodara Gas Hikes CNG, PNG Prices by Rs 2

Vadodara: Vadodara Gas Limited (VGL) has increased the prices of CNG and PNG from June 1, attributing the revision to higher gas procurement costs resulting from reduced allocation of lower-cost domestic natural gas and increased reliance on expensive market-sourced supplies.

The company said recent cuts in the allocation of APM/NAPM natural gas by the central government have forced city gas distributors to procure a larger portion of their gas requirements from the open market at significantly higher rates. VGL stated that it had absorbed the additional costs for some time but was ultimately compelled to revise tariffs.

Under the revised rates, CNG prices have been raised by Rs 2 per kg, from Rs 83.95 to Rs 85.95 per kg.

Similarly, domestic PNG rates have increased from Rs 51.74 to Rs 53.74 per standard cubic metre (SCM), while commercial PNG tariffs have been revised from Rs 69.50 to Rs 71.50 per SCM.

VGL said the increase is modest compared to the actual rise in procurement costs and was implemented after balancing consumer interests with the need to maintain uninterrupted gas supplies.

The company added that CNG and PNG remain cost-effective, environmentally friendly and safer fuel options compared to conventional fuels. DeshGujarat
