After success and popularity of Student mobile van, new Surat Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha has now ordered policemen to mark their presence in the street and not in office cabin.
Addressing a crime conference, two-day back in his office, Jha ordered daily three-hour vehicle checking at different places in the city. Jha also ordered three-night combing operations per week. He insisted that combing operation should be held between 2:00 to 5:00 am.
Jha also discussed introduction of new monthly review system for city’s policemen, responsible for crime detection. Those who are found unfit to detect the case would be replaced by others who are willing to grab that chance.
