Gujarat to encourage research in Saurashtra’s folk literature

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today announced the state government’s new initiative to encourage the research in the field of folk literature of Saurashtra.
Modi in his 15 August speech at Rajkot, the heart place of Saurashtra region, said the government of Gujarat has taken a decition to encourage the research activity, in the field of folk literature and Dayro. The activity will be named after Saurashtra’s greatest folk literature legand late Shri Zaverchand Meghani. Through the medium of Saurashtra University, reasarch activities will be facilitated by the government. Those interested in folk literature will be encouraged and supported through the programme.
Modi said, the research and study of Saurashtra’s own great tradition of ‘Dayro’, and delivery of education throuth ‘Dayro’, will ensure its survival in future, and will also involve new generation to take interest in this field.
