Haryana CM proves it again that Gujarat has become a benchmark

First please read this story on what Haryana Chief Minister said yesterday

Haryana is progressing by leaps and bounds and the state is far ahead of Gujarat in terms of development and agriculture production, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here today.

The Congress leader told media persons that the rice yield in Haryana was 2726 kg per hectare in 2008-09 whereas it was 1744 kg per hectare in Gujarat.

Similarly, wheat production of the state was over 4390 kg whereas the same was 2377 kg in Gujarat.

He said that Haryana is at number one position in wheat and mustard productivity.

As far as Bajra is concerned, the state yielded 1769 kg per hectare as compared to 1365 kg per hectare of Gujarat.

Haryana yielded 980 kg pulses per hectare, 1041 kg gram per hectare, 1738 kg mustard per hectare and 694 kg cotton per hectare whereas the state of Gujarat had recorded 777, 1011,1136 and 507 kg per hectare of pulses, gram, mustard and cotton, respectively.

The rural population living Below Poverty Line recorded in Gujarat was 19.1 per cent whereas it is 13.6 per cent only in Haryana. Gross State Domestic Product percentage of Gujarati s 12.48 per cent and Haryana has achieved 18.13 per cent growth, he said.

How we interpret this…

While we don’t know from where Haryana Chief Minister pulled out these figures and whether they are authentic or not, while we don’t know productivity figures of some selective crops can make Haryana ahead of Gujarat, it is pleasure to note that this statement of Haryana Chief Minister clearly shows that Gujarat has become bench mark so far as development if concerned.

This indicates that if one state wants to prove that it is developing well, it has to compare its figures with that of the state of Gujarat.

And Haryana is not only a single case in this regard.

Last year Bihar Chief Minister compared his state’s GDP with Gujarat constantly in almost every other political meeting.

We have already published in DeshGujarat, what Maharashtra’s Sharad Pawar and West Bengal’s Buddhadev Bhattacharya said about development of Gujarat in recent past. Even Pawar’s daughter in one public address talked about development of Gujarat as benchmark.

Yesterday Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, speaking at Nagpur based Swarnim Gujarat event told Gujaratis present in the function that healthy competition between states is welcoming trend.Chavan mentioned in his speech, how Gujarat Chief Minister compares Gujarat’s development with that of Maharashtra on regular interval. He said Maharahstra was facing some problems.

Making Gujarat an economic benchmark of progress and development in large country like India is really an achievement of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his government.
