Gotri attack: BJP suspends Vadodara Councillor Rajesh Ayare

Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has suspended its Councillor Rajesh Ayare for masterminding violant attack on woman Deputy Mayor of city and state minister Saurabh Patel.

Police investigation has revealed that BJP Councillor Rajesh Ayare had planned attack on Patel and Deputy Mayor Sunita Shukla when both came to attend ground breaking for construction of Low Income Group residential scheme near Gayatri school in Gotri area.

Due to violant protest by locals including stone pelting, slogan chanting and damage to chairs, tent and banners, Deputy Mayor was injured and had to be hospitalized while state cabinet minister and local MLA Saurabh Patel had to leave the place.

Key person arrested after the incident, Narayan alias Saddam Kruparao Rajput(38) told police during investigation that ward no. 12 BJP Councillor Rajesh Ayare had told his supporters, most of them BJP workers to ransack the government function. He had promised that if arrested by police, he would manage their release. As per these instructions, Narayana alias Saddam and other locals from Gotri area who were unhappy with location of this affordable housing scheme in their neighborhood gathered at Mahesh Barot’s office and started creating ruckus once minister Saurabh Patel arrived.

Rajesh’s supporters however have conveyed media persons that he was on the contrary stopping party workers from creating ruckus during the function. They say Rajesh had won election even as independent, and he can win again. The elections of VMC are scheduled to take place in last quarter of this year.

Police is also checking phone call details to establish facts. Some other names that have come to light in this incident are Bhupat Gami(party chief of ward number 12), Mahesh Barot(deputy chief of party in this ward) , Rajubhai Bhatt(generals secretary here) and Tirath Panchal(Yuva morcha chief of this ward). Among those arrested Triloksingh and Mamtaben Vyas are also BJP workers.

Rajesh Ayare has filed anticipatory bail in local court. He has gone underground.
