Five cops including IPS officer, ACP suspended in Gujarat

Five policemen including Indian Police Service(IPS) officer Manoj Ninama are suspended for their involvement in recruitment scam in Rajkot. Among those suspended are ACP Ajay Chaudhary, Police Inspector Pandor(all three from Rajkot) and Inspector Desai.

During the process for recruitment of women police sub inspectors at Police Headquarters ground in Rajkot, physical test was conducted during which two women were allegedly favored. Woman PSI Variya had complained about this before the recruitment committee incharge and other senior officers. This was the only such case during state-wide recruitment process and therefore probe into this issue was handed over to district police chief Gagandip Gambhir. Probe report with evidences was given to state Home department recently.

Among those suspended, IPS Manoj Ninama holds charge of State Reserve Police(SRP)13 as commandant. ACP AL Chaudhary holds charge of Rajkot Police Headquarters.

The recruitment test was conducted on 16 February. Chaudhary was ground incharge during the test. It is alleged that both women candidates were declared successful in physical test without running for entire distance of 1600 meter. A video had surfaced showing ACP Ajay Chaudhary’s son present in recruitment control room.
