Jamnagar
Election for the posts of president and vice president of Devbhumi Dwarka district panchayat was canceled yesterday by district collector and postponed for a day.
Congress has got 11 seats while BJP 9 and independents 2 in Devbhumi Dwarka district panchayat.
As 2 independents extended their support to BJP, both Congress and BJP are enjoying support of 11-11 members.
The Collector therefore took a decision in favor of draw through chits.
However BJP members pointed out that there were two nomination forms filed from Congress side a day earlier and therefore draw is not suitable in this situation.
The district collector took a decision to dissolve the meeting and postpone it for a day.
Congress leaders PH Jadeja and former MP Vikram Madam told media persons that none from Congress side would attend the meeting next day and may approach the Gujarat High Court.
