BJP MLA protests against his own party ruled SMC

BJP MLA from Varachha assembly segment of Surat district, Kumar Kanani has started a sit in protest (dharna) against his own party ruled Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) for its alleged lackadaisical attitude in the road and drainage construction work in Mangarh chowk area of the city.

Kanani, however, has categorically said that his protest was only against the corporation administration and its officials and not against his party or the government.

The protesting MLA said that the government or the party in rule can’t be blamed for the slow pace and negligence of the road and drainage construction work as it was only a policy maker.

‘The execution is done by the officials and the administration who were showing completely irresponsible and anti people attitude. The work has not been completed despite several reminders and the residents of the area were suffering. The half done work was also causing a lot of dust pollution,’ he said adding it has compelled him to go for a sit in.
