A group of doctors from Patidar or Patel community today held demonstration against Congress party here for its alleged attempts to take political mileage from the pro reservation stir of the community.
The doctors holding placards held the demonstration in Umiya campus (a prominent center of the Kadva faction of Patidars in the city) near Sola Bhagwat Peeth.
Dr. Dinesh Patel, who is also a member of Patidar Anamat Aandolan Samiti (PAAS) said that Congress was brazenly trying to take political mileage from the agitation.
‘We strongly oppose the proposed January 5 rally of Congress from Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram in support of the demand to release jailed Patidar leaders. This is nothing but a political gimmick. If the party is so concerned about the Patidars why it is not declaring its open support to our reservation stir,’ he said.
The participating doctors said that they won’t allow any party to take political advantage from the stir.
