Gandhinagar: Believe it or not but both main political parties have decided the candidates based on caste group lines. Parties believe that is caste group factor is neutralized or addressed at candidate level, the party can focus on other things that impact the election. Caste factor doesn’t impact much in urban areas but even in Ahmedabad (East) constituency, BJP and Congress have fielded Patel candidates citing caste linked reasons. Following is the list of constituencies and candidates for record. Some seats are caste neutral. In some other seats which are urban, caste is not decisive factor. In most seats, the caste group that has been given candidature is not in majority. SC (Schedule Caste or Dalit) and ST (Schedule Tribe or tribal) reserved seats are mentioned in the table.
