Rs. 710 cr allocated for urban public welfare works in Gujarat; Rs. 208 cr to new civic bodies

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved an amount of Rs. 208 crore for six newly formed municipal corporations in the state, aimed at enhancing administrative capacity and infrastructure facilities, including equipment, to enable them to carry out public welfare works for citizens in full capacity, the Gujarat government announced today.

CM has approved a total of Rs. 710 crore for development works under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme for newly formed Anand, Nadiad, Morbi, Vapi, Navsari, and Gandhidham municipal corporations, as well as Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, and the municipalities of Patan, Vadnagar, Siddhpur, and Kadi.

Accordingly, Rs. 10 crore has been approved for street lights, roads, waste collection and disposal, urban beautification, and IEC activities under city beautification and cleaning work in Anand Municipal Corporation, and Rs. 10 crore for information technology infrastructure works to enhance the administrative capacity of the Municipal Corporation, making a total of Rs. 20 crore approved for development works.
In addition, Rs. 25 crore has been allocated for the construction of a new town hall in Anand under the special recognition work.

Similarly, the Chief Minister has approved the allocation of Rs. 12.20 crore for various works, including dividers, painting work of the library, street light maintenance, purchase of JCB and road roller, garden maintenance, drainage maintenance, cleaning by mechanical means, garbage spot collection, light decoration, etc., in Morbi Municipal Corporation under city beautification and cleaning work.
Additionally, Rs. 55.80 crore has been approved for converting the open canal from Lilapar Chowkdi to Kandla Bypass via Ravapar Chowkdi, the main canal of the Morbi Municipal Corporation’s Machhu-2 Irrigation Scheme, into a concrete conduit (box).
Not only this, for the administrative capacity building in this municipality, Rs. 12 crore has been approved for works including computers and scanners, meeting halls with projector facilities, G-SWAN setup, office buildings, and furniture.

The Chief Minister has also approved Rs. 1.89 crore for the construction of a city bus stand with various facilities in the newly formed Nadiad Municipal Corporation, Rs. 10 crore for city beautification, and Rs. 10 crore for administrative capacity building.

The Chief Minister has allocated Rs. 10 crore each for administrative capacity building in the newly formed Vapi, Navsari, and Gandhidham Municipal Corporations, including computers and scanners, meeting halls with projector facilities, G-SWAN setup, office buildings, and furniture.
In addition, Rs. 11.50 crore has been approved for city beautification and cleaning work in Vapi Municipal Corporation, Rs. 10 crore for Navsari, and Rs. 10 crore for Gandhidham Municipal Corporations.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has also allocated funds to Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Jamnagar, and Bhavnagar Municipal Corporations for works of special recognition, private society public participation works, infrastructure development works, and works under Special Assistance for Capital Investment.

Vadodara Municipal Corporation has been approved for 7 works of roads and street lights in the South Zone under the Private Society Public Participation Scheme, Rs. 67.07 lakh, and for 102 works of CC Road and Paver Blocks in the West Zone, Rs. 13.25 crore. Additionally, Rs. 22.50 crore has been approved for the control of stray cattle under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme.

The Chief Minister has approved Rs. 147.57 crore for various physical infrastructure and social infrastructure works in Surat Municipal Corporation.

For development works approved under the infrastructure component in Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, an amount of Rs. 13.22 crore has been approved under this SJMSVY. In addition, Rs. 120 crore has been approved for the construction of Gaurav Path, city beautification, elevated flyover, and construction of a sports complex and multipurpose auditorium.

Additionally, in Rajkot Municipal Corporation, Rs. 71 crore has been approved under the identity component, including Rs. 24 crore for developing Padak Road as Gaurav Path, Rs. 7 crore for the construction of the National Martyrs’ Memorial, Rs. 7 crore for the construction of a library in the western zone, Rs. 9 crore for various development works of city beautification, and the Chief Minister has approved the allocation of Rs. 13 crore for developing Sponge City and Rs. 11 crore for controlling stray cattle.

In Rajkot city, Ward No. 12, Sponge City has been constructed in the outer part towards the west, about 500 meters away from the 150-feet ring road. It has been planned to make such places usable for the people by channelizing water flow, water storage, canals, increasing water conservation, traditional water conservation strategies, increasing green spaces, and improving the land surface care.

Under such prominent work, water body landscaping, lake beautification, riverfront development, and works like parks, gardens, and amusement parks will be undertaken.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the allocation of Rs. 44.30 crore for Surat, Jamnagar, Anand Municipal Corporations, as well as Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation under Special Assistance for Capital Investment.

In Bhavnagar Metropolitan City, this amount will be used for road re-carpeting, repair of the shopping center of the Municipal Corporation, construction of an auditorium, construction of a fire station, e-bus depot, strengthening of primary schools and Anganwadi, and IT infrastructure.

In addition to these Municipal Corporations, Siddhpur Municipality has been approved for a total of two railway under-bridges with a total of Rs. 50.79 crore. Additionally, Patan Municipality has been given Rs. 16.98 crore under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme for the construction of a Town Hall, Rs. 1.27 crore for the restoration of Pithora Gate to Vadnagar Municipality, and Rs. 39.65 lakh for Kadi Municipality under the Private Society Public Participation Scheme.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has maintained a public interest approach to gradually increase the ease of living for citizens residing in cities and towns in this allocation of funds under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme.
