Amul hikes milk price
May 13, 2026
Gandhinagar: Amul milk has become costlier by Rs. 2 per liter with effect from May 14.
According to Amul, this price hike is due to the increase in the input cost of milk for 36 lakh milk producers. The cost of milk production has increased due to the increase in the cost of animal feed, packaging and fuel throughout the year.
‘Our member unions have also increased the price of milk to farmers by Rs. 30 per kg fat or 3.7% in the last one year,’ Amul stated.
It is worth noting that 80% of the money received from consumers through the Amul cooperative structure is returned to the milk producers – the Statement added. DeshGujarat

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), marketer of milk and milk products under the brand name of Amul, has increased the prices of fresh pouch milk by Rs 2 per litre in major milk selling variants/packs across India effective from 14th May’2026.
The increase of Rs 2 per litre translates to approx. 2.5-3.5% per litre which is lower than average food inflation. It is worthwhile to note that since May’2025, Amul has made no increase in consumer price of milk.
This price hike is being done due to increase in overall cost of operation and production of milk. There is a substantial increase in cost of Cattle feed, Milk Packaging film and fuel during the year. Our member unions have also increased farmer’s procurement price by Rs 30 per kg fat which is 3.7% increase over May’25.
Amul as a policy passes on almost 80 paise of every rupee paid by consumers for milk and milk products to the milk producers. The price revision shall help in sustaining remunerative milk prices to our milk producers and to encourage them for higher milk production.
