ACB Trap in Ahmedabad: ASI plus two GRD Cops Booked in ₹30,000 Bribery Case

Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a successful trap operation following a complaint from an alert citizen and caught two accused while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The operation was conducted under the ACB’s 1064 toll-free anti-corruption initiative.

The accused have been identified as Bhaveshbhai Labhshankar Rawal, an Assistant ASI posted at Kanbha Police Station; Kamleshbhai alias Robert Vinodbhai Barot, a GRD (Gram Rakshak Dal) jawan; and Ranjitbhai Jashubhai Solanki, alao a GRD cop.

According to the ACB, the complainant runs a cosmetic manufacturing unit in the Dhamtwan area of Daskroi taluka. On May 14, the accused allegedly visited the factory and accused the complainant of relabelling expired products with fresh manufacturing dates. They allegedly threatened legal action and imprisonment and initially demanded a bribe of ₹2 lakh to avoid filing a case.

After discussions, the alleged amount was reduced to ₹30,000. On the following day, Ranjitbhai reportedly visited the factory to collect the money but the complainant was unable to arrange it. The matter was then reported to ACB officials.

During the trap operation conducted on May 16 inside the complainant’s car near Bakrol Police Chowki under Kanbha Police Station limits, Bhaveshbhai allegedly instructed the complainant over the phone to hand over the money to Kamleshbhai alias Robert. After an alleged demand and acceptance of ₹30,000, ACB officials caught the accused red-handed and recovered the entire amount.

The third accused, Ranjitbhai Solanki, was not present at the trap location. ACB officials are investigating allegations of conspiracy and aiding each other in the offence.

The ACB has reiterated that citizens facing bribery demands can report such incidents through its toll-free helpline 1064. DeshGujarat
